Working life
Started at a bank, but my love for electronics was too strong.  I studied for a few years and graduated at the academy as an electronics engineer. Then I worked at the RCD (the Radiocontroledienst was the Dutch equivalent of the FCC), nowadays called AT (Agentschap Telecom).  Upon today I'm the most proud of this job where I got known and experience with every thinkable way of transmission. At the RCD almost every thinkable transmitter is measured, from mobile (e.g. land, aeronautical and maritime communication including radar) to broadcast. Of course Ham equipment as well including solving problems with EMI - RFI - TVI - BCI in accordance with Dutch law. After several years I became a specialist in EMC. One of the components of my task was supervision at the CE quality mark according European determined technical regulations (EN standards). Afterwards I did several different jobs like our own retail store and a lunchroom, government inspector water infrastructure, benefits counselor at a gorvernment agency, and so on. Nowadays I'm working at a company in pest control for more than a decade where electronics are applied more and more. With the use of wifi networks and specially designed devices it's possible to monitor any form of nausance.

I like to carry out my hobby from the living room so that contact with my family members is still possible. Therefore I have a separate corner with enough space for equipment, soldering and measuring.

Having collected a huge quantity of transmitters over time, I recently decided to decrease the number of transmitters. I was able to buy a reasonable priced Icom 7100. This all-in-one transmitter contains HF (1.8 - 30 Mhz) & 6 meter (50 Mhz) & 4 meter (70 Mhz) & 2 meter (145 Mhz) & 70 centimeter (435 Mhz). On the receiver side it has an extreme wide range and of course this radio is complied with state of the art software and several possibilities like D-star.

My antenna situation changes regularly. At the moment I use a MFJ 1835HK Cobweb in the range 10 - 40 meters for the HF bands including the WARC frequencies. This antenna will also resonate at 80 and 160 meters and at 60 meters by using an antennatuner. The MFJ is situated at about only 6 meters above groundlevel. Nevertheless all continents have been worked and confirmed. For 6 meters and VHF/UHF I use separate vertical polarized antennas at approximately the same height.

My personal interest concerns all digi-modes, like RTTY - SSTV - FAX - PSK - JT65 et cetera, but my preference is FT4 & FT8.:
